Mental Health
is a growing public health emergency that affects individuals, families, and multiple sectors, and poses a significant challenge to the social and economic development of Uganda and the rest of Africa.
In Ugandan society, teenage pregnancy is often met with severe judgment and rejection. Young girls who become pregnant frequently face expulsion from school, leading to an abrupt end to their education and future career prospects.
Similarly, women facing infertility often endure profound social stigma and isolation. They are frequently labeled and ostracized, stripping them of their support systems when they are most vulnerable.
The burden of these challenges, combined with economic instability, creates a perfect storm for mental health crises. Depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem are rampant, yet many suffer in silence due to the prevailing stigma.
Without professional help and community support, these young women are left to navigate trauma and parenthood alone. Cry No More seeks to break this cycle, offering a lifeline of hope, acceptance, and practical support to restore their dignity and future.
